Nina B had this to day about what inspired her to write “Somebody’s Daughter”:

“Nas has always been such a big influence on my career in so many ways, meeting him a while back reaffirmed why I love painting portraits with words. Minutes before taking a picture for BET, Nas gave me advice which would be the proverbial polish to my diamond/gift. He told me to write from the heart and not from the head, saying, ‘The heart knows more about beats, the head recalls events, but heart recreates the moments feeling.’ Listening to ‘Daughters’ vividly brought me back to that moment and this is what I recorded…”

Sound & Style Showcases Up-and-Coming Femme MCs

In conjunction with Reebok and Inspiration by Monster Cable, Simone ‘Boss Lady’ Amelia hosted Sound & Style event in Manhattan, NY on February 8th.  This event highlighted some of hip hop/rap industry’s up-and-coming femme MCs.  Some of those in attendance were Brianna, Snow da Product, Nina B, Jasmine Solano, Nyemiah Supreme, and Audra the Rapper.

Boss Lady spoke about the re-emergence of female MCs/rappers. “hanks to countless ladies putting in work over the years and most recently, Nicki Minaj’s pop culture takeover, fans are now ready more than ever before to embrace women on the mic,” she said.
